Anthony Gottlieb is a former Executive Editor of The Economist, now working on the history of ideas. He is the author of The Dream of Reason: A History of Philosophy from the Greeks to the Renaissance (2000), The Dream of Enlightenment: The Rise of Modern Philosophy (2016), Ludwig Wittgenstein: Philosophy in the Age of Airplanes (2025), and of numerous book reviews and essays in The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Economist and other publications. In 2018-19 he was a fellow of All Souls College, Oxford.
